Brown Sugar Bars

 


Tangy raisins and chopped nuts fill these bars.
INGREDIENTS
1-1/3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup California raisins
PROCEDURE
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan large enough to serve as mixing bowl. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add nuts and raisins. Stir in dry ingredients. Spread in a greased 13x9-inch pan. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes. Cut into bars, then cool in pan.
Yields: 36 bars
